Can anyone tell me anything about this spider?

We get them in the basement all the time. They are a little to big for my liking. They jump and bite and I run from them. What can I do to keep them out of my house? Thankfully I have never seen one upstairs, but I do laundry downstairs and I'm telling ya, if I seen another one that big... I won't be going back down there! hehe...

It looks similar to a brown recluse..It's difficult to tell from the picture..

I know the picture isn't great, but I can't get close enough to get a better one.

We set of bombs lastnight. Hopefully that will kill the ones down there... not to keep them from coming back!
